Antonina Shevchenko
Antonina Shevchenko is the Kyrgyzstani and Peruvian Muay Thai fighter and mixed martial artist who is currently fighting with the Flyweight Division of UFC. Shevchenko is the older sister of her former UFC Flyweight champ and the fellow UFC athlete Valentina. Antonina Shevchenko's professional career in combat sport started out with her debut as a Muay Thai athlete. Shevchenko debuted on the IFMA World Championship Tournament in 2003. Shevchenko took the title and later defeated Suzane Mller on a unanimous vote. Antonina was able to follow it up, and took home a silver in 2007 a bronze medal in 2008 a gold medal in 2011, and was the year-end 2016 IFMA Amateur Muay Thai World Champion. Antonia's professional journey began in 2003. She won in 2012 an event called the WKC K-1 Light Welterweight World Championship and in 2016 she won the Lion Fight Lightweight Championship and in 2016, she was the winner of the WMC and Phoenix FC World Championships. Antonina's fight for her final title took place at Phoenix Fighting Championship against Isa Tidblad Keskikangas. She was victorious by the unanimous verdict. Antonina Shevchenko broke her first professional MMA record in 2002 at the KFK cup in Kyrgystan against Anara Bayanova. She took home the second-round TKO fight and her subsequent two matches during the WXF: X-Impact World Championships in 2003. The result was the record being 3-0. Shevchenko went on a hiatus from MMA to work on her kickboxing, and she made her comeback in a fight against Anissa Haddaoui Phoenix FC 3 in 2017. Shevchenko beat Anissa in a unanimously-decided match, after which she beat Valerie Domergue in Phoenix FC 4. She was let go of the competition and began Dana White's Contender Series 2018. Shevchenko took on Jaimelene Nievera in Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series 11, Antonina's striking skills were superior and enabled her to TKO Nievera via knees in the lower body. Following this victory Antonina was given the chance to sign a UFC contract. Antonina Shevchenko was able to make her UFC debut in the TUF Heavy Hitters Finale against Ji Yeon Kim. Shevchenko defeated Kim through a unanimous win, however she fell in her next fight against Roxanne Modafferi with a split decision. Antonina was able to bounce back from her defeat to defeat Lucie Pudilova in the rear with a choking submission in the 2nd round of UFC on ESPN Covington Vs. Lawler. She earned an extra fight in the night in this match. Shevchenko had a 1-2 record in the next three fights. She beat Ariane Lipski, however she lost to Katlyn Chokagian and Andrea Lee. Antonina was recently defeated by Casey O'Neill via TKO at UFC Fight Night Santos-Walker.
