She was a singer, performer and designer and broke down barriers in the industry of music. She was at once an American-Mexican traditional star who bound together both genres with a unique approach. She also delivered incredible Tejano music to an affluent public. It was her sudden death that destroyed her reputation. It happens to a lot of stars who pass away too early. Over the years, the fans became inspired to work even harder in order to ensure that her successes would not fade away. Selena's tragic death by shooting provoked a response from the Latino Community that was comparable with the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. She was an incredibly loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her songs touched the hearts of both young as well as the elderly. Selena might have been described by certain people as a Latina Madonna, however she's still an excellent role model. Selena's values of family life offstage and involvement with AIDS awareness campaigns make her a good example.
