Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she won an Emmy Award. She is also known for her role in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. Her childhood was spent in a family with four other brothers. While she was a small girl, she wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials and after moving New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney's career has been filled by a myriad of TV films and dramas. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two failed marriages, and has struggled with addiction issues. She was divorced in 2005 and was denied custody of the sole child she was born with.
